Jess: While this isn't among my top favorites, I did enjoy this book. Sometimes the political intrigue is unbelievable, and sometimes the lesser characters are truly irritating (more in the first book that the second), but it was a fun read and interesting. Its absolutely a chick book, I'm sure all of the negative reviews on amazon.com are from men (and they probably won't like it). It is a little cheesy, but I happen to like the occasional cheesy book here and there, as long as its not vomit-inducing, which its not. If you're looking for something on a more epic scale with less of a focus on fantasy, skip this one. But if you're looking for something to pass the time with enjoyably, this should do the trick.  5/16/05
