Anne Bishop

Jess: Totally awesome. I first read the Black Jewels Trilogy (available in trade paperback, above, or in three separate books in mass market) a few years ago, and the only complaint was that the ending just left you completely hanging. I had no hope for a continuation, so it was a complete surprise when Dreams Made Flesh came out. And yes, the ending does not leave you hanging

These books are kind of hard to explain, you just have to check them out. Sometimes Bishop's constant repetition of certain descriptive phrases is annoying (you'll see), but otherwise no complaints. There were some parts I got confused with, but in the end it didn't really matter.  Strong women, flavorful men, dark magic, and what happens when the three of these combined best describes these books for me. But be warned, they can get pretty sexual. Two thumbs up! 5/16/05

Also try: Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series.

Other books by Anne Bishop: The Invisible Ring, The Pillars of the World, The House of Gaian, and The Shadows and the Light
