The Blending/The Blending Enthroned Karen: When I began reading this eight book series, I assumed that the drinking of tea would end up being some sort of super power enabler, that and taking baths. Seriously, I have never read a book where the main characters are so obsessed with the soothing, calming, restorative benefits of tea! And if they don’t take baths, they act as if they will simply collapse. Needless to say, I was incorrect in my assumptions as neither tea nor bathing did anything to further the plot. The concept for these books is very unique and complicated, but trust me that it is worth it. Each of the main characters is a magic user born to be a master in wielding his or her particular element, earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. They are trained and tested, hunted and hunters through the course of the series. There is plenty of romance to keep you happy, and as I said previously, the series is very unique. My only major complaint was the very slow pace of the first book, the same action is told over and over from each character’s point of view. I also warn you that the plot did drag in parts, especially over their interminable tea drinking and bathing. That said, I loved almost everything else about this series. Plus the cover art is breathtaking! Enjoy! 6/27/05 |
