Glenda Larke

Isles of Glory Jess: I'm totally loving Australia right now, just because they've been putting out some great authors, including Glenda Larke. Even better, they've already been published completely there, so most of the time when they come out in the US they're published in paperback and come out every few months. Fabulous! Enough about that, I picked this book up (despite the goofy cover- yes I'm a book cover judger) since I heard some good things. Totally gritty and enthralling. Blaze is this tough outcast that doesn't let life get in her way, but she's not too tough (now who wants that?). The world and the story are like nothing else I've read, but in a good way. I never got bored, never got overwhelmed with the action, and by the end of the book I was on the verge of ordering the last two from Australia, just so I could keep going. There is romance in this book, but it isn't the basis of the story. And do you know what? I wouldn't change it one bit. Also try: Trudi Canavan's "Black Magician Trilogy." 5/24/05 NEWS: "Gilfeather," the second in this series, will be released in paperback in October. The third, "The Tainted," has no date set yet. Keep checking in! |
