Tielmaran Chronicles

Jess: Its been a while since I read this series, but I remember I totally loved it, particularly the relationship between Gaultry and Martin, the two main characters. There's a good amount of romance and, of course, magic, with a small amount of political intrigue. There isn't a whole lot of world-building here, but Reimann goes in depth on the magic and how it affects the people around it. Man, I really need to reread this series. Hopefully Karen can get into this more, otherwise I will have to reread it and get some better info. This is a terrific series though, so give it a shot. Most bookstores (that I've seen) don't have this in stock anymore, but you can order it or get it from amazon.com. All are available in paperback.  5/24/05

Karen: This is one of my absolute favorite romantic fantasy trilogies and I strongly urge you to hunt down these books NOW!  The story revolves around one of a set of twins, Gaultry, and her journey to save her kingdom, gain and manage her magical powers, save a young boy, save her lover, and come to terms with the fact that she is one hell of a kick ass woman.  Whew!  If that sounds like a lot, it is.  But boy is it fun!  The main character and the two men in her life are some of the most likable characters I have ever read.  Although Gaultry is one of the most powerful magic users in the world, she struggles to learn the basics of its use.  She also is not one of those characters where everything just falls into place in her life.  She has interpersonal issues that all affect the plot.  And did I mention that the hero, Martin, is to die for?  The man is tall dark and sexy with a healthy dose of broodiness thrown in.  And Gaultry’s teenage ward isn’t bad either.  This trilogy has it all, an interesting fantasy world, interesting origins for its magic, and great characters.  This is a must read! 7/14/05

Also try: Laura Resnick's "Chronicles of Sirkara."
