Crowthistle Chronicles

Jess: I shook my head almost the entire time reading this book. Its a shame, because there is a glimmer of an interesting story underneath.

Unfortunately, "Iron Tree" is so bogged down in descriptions and lists I wanted to suffocate. Dart-Thornton goes way too far in describing every single nonchalant detail, and goes overboard in trying to write a la Shakespeare (why, I still haven't figured it out, especially since this is a Celtic fantasy). Some authors are more descriptive right in the beginning, but Dart-Thornton overloads you until well past the first half. I managed to stick with it, but only for the sake of writing the review. I'm sure the ending won't fail to tick off quite a few readers as well.

If you wait until this book is released in paperback and you think can manage filtering out all of the useless information, you might be entertained for a few hours. Just don't say I didn't warn you. 6/10/05

NEWS:  The next book "Well of Tears," will be released in hardcover  February 2006.
