Tad Williams
|
Rob: In "Tailchaser’s Song", a charming, yet surprisingly deep, story by Tad Williams, "Watership Down" meets epic fantasy in a collision of vivid style and creative flare. The world of Fritti Talechaser is small, encompassing an area the size of a few neighborhoods, but the conflict that unfolds is both vast and gripping. Williams is able to weave both humor and a sense of magic into his delightful feline world. In
a tongue and cheek, but likely accurate, portrayal of feline world view,
M’an are benevolent, yet hum drum, creatures serving the needs of many a
self centered feline. The Cats themselves are delightfully unattached to the
world of M’an which is little more than a sideshow to the real action.
Tailchaser’s Song is a truly original story written in a style and point
of view Tad Williams has never returned to. His first work of fiction, it is
a must read for fans of "Red Wall," "Watership Down,"
"The Wind and The Willows," and "The Chronicles of
Chrestomanci." 7/9/05 |
